If we look at the above table^AA we can see that 69% of all world water withdrawals are used for irrigation. Some counties such as Egypt are completely reliant on irrigation for producing food.

With a figure approaching 70%, it can be said that for the world as a whole the use of water for irrigation is very important. However, the UK we only use 1% for irrigation. A vast difference.
