{"id":320,"date":"2023-04-19T08:38:00","date_gmt":"2023-04-19T07:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southwest-environmental.co.uk\/blog\/?p=320"},"modified":"2024-04-27T15:40:18","modified_gmt":"2024-04-27T14:40:18","slug":"visual-impact-assessment-bath","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southwest-environmental.co.uk\/blog\/2023\/04\/19\/visual-impact-assessment-bath\/","title":{"rendered":"Visual Impact Assessment Bath"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have recently been asked to provide a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.southwest-environmental.co.uk\/further%20info\/environmental_impact_assessment\/visual_landsacpe_impact_assessment.html\">Visual Impact Assessment<\/a> for a site in <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/r7BhAzGgP3vMGkX36\">Bath<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This was an unusual request given the scale of the building which is quite small, given the range of buildings and structures we typically see requiring a <a href=\"https:\/\/southwest-environmental.co.uk\/blog\/2015\/07\/23\/landscape-and-visual-impact-assessment-rickmansworth\/\">visual impact assessment<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ordinarily we would carry out visual impact assessments for projects such as <a href=\"https:\/\/southwest-environmental.co.uk\/blog\/2013\/11\/08\/visual-impact-report-for-wind-turbine-100-kw-cornwall\/\">wind turbine<\/a>s, or <a href=\"https:\/\/southwest-environmental.co.uk\/blog\/2015\/06\/22\/geotechnical-investigation-design-for-solar-park-somerset\/\">solar farms<\/a>, but in this instance the project comprises of a extension to an existing domestic garage, to create a two storey building.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-321 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/southwest-environmental.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/U_o_d_library_jan2008.png\" alt=\"picture of a timber clad building (university of dundee library)\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southwest-environmental.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/U_o_d_library_jan2008.png 500w, https:\/\/southwest-environmental.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/U_o_d_library_jan2008-300x225.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The project is in a suburban area, but is relatively close to Bath&#8217;s historic centre. Perhaps this is the reason a Visual Impact Assessment has been requested by <a href=\"http:\/\/bathnes.gov.uk\">Bath and North East Somerset Council<\/a> (BANES).<\/p>\n<p>We will visit the area surrounding site and take photos so as to represent views from different aspects, we will then make a qualitative review of ht e situation and prescribe a magnitude of impact.<\/p>\n<p>If you require a visual impact assessment for any type of project please do <a href=\"https:\/\/www.southwest-environmental.co.uk\/contacts.html\">contact us<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A visual impact assessment is process by which the visual impact of a project is assessed. For example the visual impact of a new or altered building may have on onlookers.
