However, around 10 years ago the development was hooked up to the mains sewers, and the treatment plant is now no longer required.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southwest-environmental.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/bio_disc_treatment_plant.jpg\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"336\" data-original-width=\"448\" height=\"240\" src=\"https:\/\/southwest-environmental.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/bio_disc_treatment_plant-300x225.jpg\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Although there is very extensive guidance available for the decommissioning of underground structures in the &#8220;Blue Book&#8221; for petrol filling stations, guidance for the removal of sewage related tanks, is some what limited. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/permits-you-need-for-septic-tanks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Binding Rules<\/a> for example give very scant advice, and further information given in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.netregs.org.uk\/media\/1669\/ppg-27-underground.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PPG27 <\/a>has now been withdrawn with no replacement made.<\/p>\n<p>In this instance we authored a removal strategy based on international guidance, parallel sector guidance and review of case studies.<\/p>\n<p>If you would like an opinion on decommissioning of a septic tank, treatment plant read bed or other foul water treatment system, then please contact us, and we provide a no obligation initial appraisal.
