Cold Northcott Windfarm

Southwest Environmental were commissioned to carry out a Visual Impact Assessment for a Wind turbine adjacent to the Cold Northcott Wind farm a wind farm that has 21 turbines, each around 25 meters high to the hub and a 33 meter blade diameter giving an overall height of approx. 41 meters. In order to create a 3D model it was necessary to reproduce a 3D model of the existing twin blade turbines.

Technical Dataset: Cold Northcott Wind Farm 3D Visualization Model

This dataset comprises a high-fidelity 3D model of the Cold Northcott Wind Farm, developed for use in renewable energy planning and environmental impact analysis. Utilizing spatial data and turbine specifications, this resource allows for the detailed evaluation of wind infrastructure within its topographical context. Such datasets are essential for developers and planners when conducting visual assessments for large-scale energy projects.

Dataset Application in Planning and EIA

3D modeling data is a cornerstone of a professional Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). By accurately representing the scale and placement of wind turbines, this dataset supports several key technical workstreams:

Technical Specifications and Methodology

The dataset includes detailed variables such as hub heights, rotor diameters, and precise geographic coordinates. These models are often integrated with wider sustainability strategies to demonstrate the viability of renewable energy generation capacity. By utilizing accredited data, our environmental consultants can provide more robust evidence for planning statements and public consultations.

Professional Authority in Renewable Energy

Managing complex spatial data for energy projects requires specialized technical authority (IES/FGS). SWEL leverages over 15 years of industry experience to bridge the gap between technical modeling and regulatory compliance. With a portfolio of over 900 projects across the UK, we ensure that your renewable energy data is accurate, compliant, and supportive of your project's successful delivery.
